Champaign, IL, March 26, 2021—Building on its recent admittance to the Illinois High School Association (IHSA,) Academy High school welcomes track and field coach Kyle Hummel to its staff.

A longtime runner and triathlon champion, Rummer is looking forward to sharing the skills he’s developed and his passion for track and field with Academy High students.

“Since coming on board, Coach Hummel has literally hit the ground running (pun intended,)” said John Carpenter, head of Academy High School. “In fact, we have already secured our first track meet invitation to the IHSA-sanctioned Salt Fork Track & Field Meet on May 18th.”

Students had been planning a track and field club in anticipation of Academy High’s acceptance to IHSA and now will have the added benefit of a coach to guide their efforts as the school’s first varsity track team prepares for the meet.
