Academy High is pleased to announce that Donna Warwick has been named Artist in Residence at Academy High, where she will teach Creative and Performing Arts. Here is Ms. Warwick’s biography:
Donna Warwick is a multi-talented teaching artist with experience as a writer, composer, dancer, and visual/digital artist. She has provided innovative instruction in school settings ranging from public to home schooling cooperatives, and relishes working with families from many cultural backgrounds and children with a wide range of abilities and learning styles. Donna was a co-founder of the Champaign Urbana Ballet and served on the Board of Directors for 12 years.
Ms. Warwick has served on the faculty of the Center for Creative Arts (COCA) in St. Louis and is an arts enrichment specialist at several St. Louis area schools, where she teaches her original Artsfusion Method arts integration program, her newly created Digital Artsfusion for the I-Pad, as well as theatre, ballet, creative movement and art. Donna also has been artist-in-residence at University Primary School, where her specialty is creating student group art installation and video exhibits; she has lead summer camps at Class Act in Champaign for many years. Ms. Warwick serves as a guest speaker for the University of Illinois Transcendental Meditation Club, which provides students and staff with healthy ways to relax. She has been a certified teacher of the Transcendental Meditation technique since 1972.
Having raised her children and lived in Champaign for over 25 years, Ms. Warwick is excited to be a part of the Academy High family.
